Clear, practical details about what Profile Tags stores, what stays local to your browser, and how your private labels work.

Last updated: May 22, 2026 Chrome storage only No custom server calls

Overview

Profile Tags helps you add private colored labels to Facebook and Instagram profiles you know. This policy explains what the extension stores and how that data is used.

Data Stored in Chrome

The extension stores these items using Chrome storage:

  • Tag definitions, including tag names and colors
  • Tag assignments by platform-specific profile identifier
  • Optional metadata used to keep profile identity stable
  • Popup theme preference

Data Not Stored

Profile Tags does not store post content, photos, message content, private comments, passwords, payment information, or full browsing history.

Network and Servers

The current extension does not make its own network calls and does not require a custom server. It works on supported Facebook and Instagram pages and saves your tag data through Chrome storage.

Import and Export

When you export your data, Profile Tags creates a JSON file containing your tags, assignments, and related metadata. You control where that exported file is saved or shared.

Your Choices

You can edit tags, remove tagged profiles, delete tags, import data, export data, or remove the extension from Chrome. Removing the extension or clearing extension storage may remove locally saved tag data.

Independence

Profile Tags is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook, or Instagram.
